The Military History Museum has a great collection of weapons ever used by Hungarian soldiers. When placed together in chronological order and sorted out by types they help to follow Hungarian history which has been eventful and also full of struggle, from the ancestors to the defenders of the homeland of today. That is exactly what the Military History Museum carried out with its new permanent exhibition, the Armoury, which is not an ordinary exhibition. It is more of an educational centre where visitors are shown through the important stages of Hungarian miliary history with the help of the history of weapons. The thirteen wax dummies in authentic dress and gear on display serve the same purpose as they represent typical Hungarian soldiers from certain periods of Hungarian history. The minutely assembled equipment of a mounted arche from the period of the Hungarian conquest, a warrior of the Medieval Árpád Dynasty, a Haiduk, a grenadier of Maria Theresa, a line infantryman from 1848, a stormtrooper from the First World War or a soldier from the ISAF mission outline a complete picture of Hungarian military history. Weapon shows and museum education lectures have been one of the most attractive programmes of the Museum, and now the Armoury represents a new level. Visitors interested in the technical and artistic characteristics of weapons will definitely like this programme, covering all the weapon types ever used by Hungarian soldiers and nearly all the weapons ever made in Hungary.
