The Photo Archives collects all photographs related to Hungarian military history, regardless of their place of production or their theme which may range from training to battlefields, nursing or the home front.
The earliest photographs in the Collection date back to the 1840s. The Collection has a wide range of photos from the First World War and the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries; it contains albums on the Second World War from personal estates and albums related to the Hungarian People’s Army. The Collection is continuously growing and it also archives digital copies.
The Photo Archives is divided into two thematic units: photos taken before and after 1945. Within those units photographs are categorised as positives, negatives, reversal films and digital or digitised photographs.
