The current structure of the Collection was defined during the reorganization of the Museum after the Second World War when clothing items (headgear, outerwear and underwear, footwear, textile badges excluding orders, decorations or medals worn on the uniform, etc.) were organised into the Collection of Uniforms, while in the Collection of Equipment, which was a separate collection at that time, one could find military protective equipment (body protection items, chemical protective clothing, first aid equipment), packing equipment (belts, backpacks, bags, etc.), field commodity accessories (field cooking equipment, field utensils for sleeping, etc.) tools, special equipment (e.g. parachutes) and various collective equipment. Today the united Collection of Uniforms and Equipment includes as many as 30,000 single artefacts that make it one of the largest uniform collections in Hungary.
