The simplest artefacts in the Collection of Edged Weapons are stone knives, stone axes and clets from prehistoric and ancient times. The line continues with remarkable military gears from the medieval period like swords, maces, lances and halberds.
The equipment of Hungarian warriors and their Christian allies from the era of the Ottoman Rule (1526-1699) now fit peacefully with their former enemies’ gear, including sabres, daggers, knives which represent one of the most violent periods in Hungarian history.
In addition to the above, the Collection awaits researchers and visitors with several thousands of different, primarily Hungarian, Austro–Hungarian and European, cavalry, infantry, artillery, engineer, guards, crown guards, navy, gendarmerie, police and civilian swords, sabres, bayonets and accessories such as sabre and sword belts and frogs, sword knots, as well as pole weapons like spears, halberds, spontoons and pikes.
